Defining what ‘i’m about’, or indeed what a Photographer is even about, is not the seemingly straight forward task it might appear! It’s multifaceted and hugely effected by circumstance, emotion, personality and landscape; after all, it’s one human’s artistic interpretation of what they see through their lens. My simple mission is to create and capture beauty, using the scattered wonder which is all around us and in us. If the client is comfortable, the images are inevitably going to be authentic and true to them, so I really seek to create an atmosphere which encourages the client to be as fully themselves as possible. Each shoot naturally becomes a collaboration and exchange of artistic impression and expression, which cannot help but ignite fresh inspiration, creativity and personality, thus making my job so epic. Every shoot is a wondrous new opportunity to meet new people, explore ideas and spaces, interpret, improvise and draw out the unique character and feel of the day. It truly is a privilege to be invited and trusted to capture the most precious of memories and I hope to make the experience both as awesome and as chilled as possible.
If I had to define in a few words the style in which I work, it would be relaxed, artistic photo journalism. I studied illustration before discovering photography as a career path in 2012, and I believe it has had a big impact on the way I create images. I love documenting as honestly as possible, preferring to let events unfold naturally without dictating or manipulating situations. I will of course do my best to move unsightly distractions, and present the best composition I see, giving direction during weddings with tight time frames, and portraiture. The aim is to be sensitive and thoughtful, rather than bossy and obtrusive.
